Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to your top questions about Tranquil Tails.

How does Tranquil Tails work?

Tranquil Tails releases carefully crafted pheromone isolates into the air to calm your pet. These pheromones mimic the natural calming signals mammals release when nursing their young. Our formula is safe for pets and does not contain harmful isoparaffinic hydrocarbons.

When should I use pheromones for my pet?

You can use Tranquil Tails whenever your pet shows signs of stress or anxiety. This can be helpful in a variety of situations, such as:

  • During household changes (moving, new family members, etc.)
  • When your pet is experiencing separation anxiety
  • During thunderstorms or fireworks
  • In other stressful situations where your pet feels uneasy

How long does it take Tranquil Tails products to work?

Pheromones don’t always produce instantaneous results. Some dogs calm down quickly, but others take a while. With regular use, you should see gradual improvement in your pet’s stress.

Is your product safe for residential use?

Yes! Tranquil Tails products are designed for residential and commercial use. These products can be used safely at home to relax your pets and are equally effective in professional settings like vet clinics and pet grooming businesses.

Where can I find Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for Tranquil Tails products?

At Tranquil Tails, we care about the safety of both pets and people. That’s why we provide Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for our products, offering helpful information on proper use and handling.

If you’d like to review an SDS, you can find them all here.

How many diffusers do I need for my home?

We suggest starting with one unit. Place this unit in an area your pet is frequently in but has an option to leave if they choose.  Many pets enjoying being near the diffuser.  You can control the output by using one or two pads and adjusting the heat setting.

What are pheromones?

Pheromones are chemical signals animals release to communicate with each other. While you can’t see or smell pheromones, your pets are highly sensitive to them. Tranquil Tails uses pheromone isolates to recreate the comforting pheromone released by mother mammals as they nurse their young to help your pets feel safe, secure, and relaxed.

What does anxiety in pets look like?

Pets can show anxiety in many ways, and each pet is different. Common signs of anxiety include:

  • Urinating or defecating in the house
  • Drooling or excessive salivation
  • Panting or heavy breathing
  • Destructive behavior
  • Depression or withdrawal
  • Excessive barking
  • Pacing or restlessness
  • Repetitive or compulsive behaviors
  • Trembling or shaking

These behaviors in your pet could be signs of anxiety or stress. Tranquil Tails can help reduce these behaviors by restoring your pet’s peace.

How often do I need to change my Tranquil Tails pads in the diffuser?

We recommend changing Tranquil Tails calming pads daily to maintain a constant, soothing atmosphere for your pet. One pad is enough for small rooms, but for larger areas, two pads are recommended.

Can I use this in a home with pet birds?

These pheromones are for mammals only, so Tranquil Trails products should not be used in homes with birds.

Are Tranquil Tails products free of isoparraffinic hydrocarbon solvents?

Yes! All Tranquil Tails products are completely free of isoparraffinic hydrocarbon solvents. We’re committed to using only safe, gentle ingredients that support your pet’s well-being—without unnecessary or potentially harsh additives.

I've noticed some discoloration on the unit where I put the pads. Is this normal?

Yes, some discoloration in the pad area is normal over time.  It’s a natural reaction between the essential oils and the diffuser material.  It’s a natural interaction and won’t impact how well your diffuser works or the amount of dry vapor it releases.
